The club inducts new trainees twice a year for training to BSAC Ocean Diver grade.
There is a minimum age limit of 18 years old for trainees.
Please contact the Diving Officer to arrange a Try Dive. divingofficer@newmarket-bsac.org.uk. Lectures take place on Tuesday evenings at Swaffham Prior and pool training takes place from 7.00pm to 9.00pm on Friday nights at Bottisham Village College.
Open water training is usually carried out at Gildenburgh Water.
Once qualified as an Ocean Diver, members can, if they wish, continue their training via the BSAC Diver Training Programme.

The charge for Ocean Diver is £120 plus training materials - this does not include suit hire and entrance to training lake or club membership. The charge for Sports Diver is £120 plus training materials - this does not include suit hire and entrance to training lake or club membership. Alternatively members can undertake BS-AC Skill Development Courses in the areas of specific interest listed below.
Rescue - life saving, first aid, oxygen administration
Technical Diving - use of mixed gases and rebreathers, nitrox, extended range diving Seamanship - boat handling, chartwork, navigation, outboard maintenance Scientific - marine life appreciation, underwater photography Diving - dive planning, ice diving, searches, wreck appreciation
SDC courses can be undertaken either within the branch or at regional level.
